Top New Zealand fiddler Marian Burns is always a favourite with the crowds.
She has a new album out called Marian Burns Just Fiddlin' Around.
One track off her new album "Louisiana Saturday Night" is being played in Europe -- in fact Belgium, Romania, Germany, Netherlands, Ireland, Scotland, Holland, Denmark, Australia, Austria, Switzerland, and New Zealand (Dunedin, Oamaru, Christchurch) and Norfolk Is. And she can't wait to showcase the music from her new album at the festival.
Marian has recently featured in a New Zealand movie called The China Cup which is being premiered in Timaru in March.
She plays the character of "Roxie the Fiddler" and plays four of her original songs in the film. She also has a speaking role, being the flatmate of one of the main characters.
Marian is also now a character in a book by an 11-year-old Australian author Alisha Quilty of Berowra, Sydney.
Called The Stolen Fiddle, it's about Marian Burns, a young lady who plays her fiddle for the people of Fiddletown every mornng, and who has her fiddle stolen. She must rescue the Queen of Miniature from the King of Eviltown if she is ever to see her beloved fiddle again.
