‘Shotgun’ the band was formed 7 years ago , drawing from members of the Napier City Country Music Club .There have been several changes of personnel over the years, but currently the band consists of Kem Wairau – drums and vocals, Derek Evans – rhythm guitar and vocals, Alan Wairea – lead guitar and vocals, with Sheila Pope on bass guitar. Included in the band are 3 female vocalists, Sandy Nielsen, Mandy Smith and Lyn Evans.
The group is based in Napier and has become a popular country Music band , playing music from the '60s to the '90s and beyond , and is sought after as a backing band. The band members have over the years provided backing for the Starship Charity Concert in Dannevirke, Marton Country Music Festival and the Bay of Islands Country Rock Festival. They have also competed in the Gold Guitar Awards in Gore.
