Nadine Newman-Dempster

I am 20 years old and I have been singing competitively in the country music scene for seven years receiving many opportunities in the music industry.

More recently, I have won the Tauranga Country Music Awards in the senior section which has allowed me to compete at this year's annual Trans-Tasman Awards in Norfolk Island. Also, it has given me a placing at the New Zealand Country Music Entertainer of the Year in the senior section for 2008.

There have been many opportunities that have arisen for me in other areas of the music industry as well. I have recently returned from Hong Kong where I was singing for a socialite, Michelle Ong, who makes designer jewellery for celebrities under her collection “Carnet’. I had a fantastic time and hope to revisit sometime in the future. In February I performed for the Russian singer ‘Yulia’ at her wedding in Christchurch which featured in the Woman’s Weekly.

I enjoy singing at the Bay of Islands Country Rock Festival because the atmosphere is friendly and the crowds are always congenial. My band of Barry Bowman and friends have backed many overseas artists at this festival over the years. Hope to see you there.
