New single for Steve Passfield

One of the Australian stars scheduled to attend the festival is Steve Passfield. He has released a new single “Goin’ it Alone” off his new album of the same name, produced by Rod McCormack.

The song is a bright, bluegrass flavoured track that talks of self-belief and self-confidence and features some of the best musicians in Australia.

The album has been reviewed by Sue Jarvis in Capital News as follows;

STEVE PASSFIELD is best known as the leader of country band HANDPICKED, but this time he’s literally “gone it alone” with a collection of his own songs (two of them written with ROD MCCORMACK and KEVIN BENNETT respectively). Steve’s folk and bluegrass influences are very much in evidence on a diverse collection of songs which range from Australiana that would do JOHN WILLIAMSON or COLIN BUCHANAN proud - such as the powerful Australian Spirit and the delightful Lady of the Top End - to touching and tender tales of people. Acceptance - the tale of a special little boy - is a real highlight of the album, as is the disturbing Break Free. Songs like the cool swing-inspired Broke, the tongue-in-cheek Trouble and Hillbilly Redneck Town demonstrate the breadth of Steve’s talents, and his tribute to Slim, To Sing with Slim, is a real gem. Other standout tracks include the wonderful A Man Will Risk It All, and the Kevin Bennett co-write, This House, which features a guest appearance from BILL CHAMBERS.

There is more information available on Steve's website www.stevepassfield.com where the album is also available.

Baby Galley Slave

We are very proud to announce the arrival of our baby daughter, Lara Grace Galley born on Wednesday the 14th of December 2005 at 5.35am, weighing 8 pounds.

We were very excited to finally meet our little girl after she kept us waiting for 14 days past her due date!  Daddy was hoping she wouldn't arrive during Christmas in the Park while he was away in Christchurch at the end of November, then we thought she might make a grand entrance while he was playing the Auckland show to 250,000 people on 10th December!  Like a good little girl she waited till Daddy was around to be with Mummy during her birth.

Christmas will be extra special for the Rogers/Galley household this year and  we hope that you all have a wonderful festive season also.

Best Wishes from the proud new parents!
