Tami Neilson

Originally from Canada, Tamil Neilson grew up performing with her parents in a family group around North America.

From 12 years old, Tami and her family, in a group called The Neilsons, hit the road full-time, touring across North America in a  motor home, performing in concerts at country music festivals, sharing the stage with the likes of Johnny Cash and Loretta Lynn. The family appeared regularly on television and radio shows.

When her parents decided to semi-retire from the music business for a while, Tami and her brothers performed as a trio. This lasted until one got married and the other decided to try out a solo career and Tami met a boy from New Zealand.

She had to start her career all over again, in a country where no one had heard of her or her family. A year later, she was performing at Parachute Music Festival, the Auckland Wine and Food Festival and Sky City. She continues to travel back and forth to Nashville in the US to record songs, and has recorded a solo album, “Red Dirt Angel”.

In April 2008, after completing the “Dugan Sings Cash” tour with Brendan Dugan, “Red Dirt Angel” was officially released in New Zealand! It includes a duet she composed and performed with Joanne Cash (Johnny’s little sister) and has spawned a nation-wide tour with special guest artist and brother, Jay Neilson, flying over from Canada to perform for the month of May.

The Country Rock Festival is their first date, kicking off the tour!
